Features: Since humans developed writing and created archives, they have attempted to develop and utilize them for their own benefit. Although the archival originals we can develop and utilize today are mostly products from the Ming and Qing dynasties and later, their visible history is short, but their traceable origins are long. Throughout history, all efforts and struggles of people have been aimed at using history as a truth, learning from the past to understand the present, and taking historical experience and lessons as a guide for practical actions. The main content of this book includes: the value and role of archives and information resource development, the history, principles, and methods of archiving authentication, the verification of archives and historical research, the significance, approaches, and practices of modern archival utilization, etc. The compilation of this material is intended, on one hand, to provide applicable teaching materials for more than 100 colleges and universities across the country that do not have archival departments but need to offer archival professional courses (usually housed in history departments). On the other hand, this course is also a newly introduced applied course for archival studies majors, with a large number of students. Currently, the main teaching format is required undergraduate courses and graduate courses, but there is still no textbook. The publication of this book fills the gap and is expected to have significant demand.
