Features: A language survey targeting the Chinese community in Singapore is significant for two reasons. Firstly, it is due to the proportion of the Chinese population in Singapore's total population, and secondly, because of the complexity of its linguistic situation, making it an important theoretical testing ground for multilingual society research. Past sociolinguistic research on Singapore has basically been divided into two traditions: one represented by scholars like Guo Zhenyu, focusing on sociology, and another characterized by qualitative case studies in linguistics. This study draws on the quantitative research features of the former while combining the observational and descriptive methodology of anthropological linguistics. It further expands the depth and breadth of language surveys in Singapore, integrating language behavior and language attitudes with research.
