The Influence of Chinese Landscape Architecture in Europe

Author: Chen Zhihua
Publisher:
Publish Date: 2006-08-01
Features: This book primarily discusses the knowledge and perspectives of Europeans, especially the British, on Chinese landscape architecture. However, it rarely introduces British naturalistic gardens and picturesque gardens, as well as later French naturalistic gardens, which were influenced by Chinese landscape architecture. The author has also added illustrations to depict the state of Western gardens in the 17th to 19th centuries. Many of these illustrations are engravings, and a significant number are reproductions, some of which have been copied multiple times, so they are not very clear but are quite authentic. This book was conceived and drafted by Mr. Chen Zhihua during the Cultural Revolution and completed in 1978. It is a work in the field of architectural history research, focusing on the exchange of landscape art between the East and West. In 1989, it was included in the author's book "Foreign Landscape Architecture" published by Mingwen Book Company in Taiwan. This time, our press is publishing it independently for the first time, with the author further supplementing and revising the entire text to make it a more detailed and comprehensive work.
