Features: Hai Zi, male, was born in Huaining County, Anhui Province in 1964. In 1980, he was admitted to the Law Department of Peking University. After graduation, he was assigned to teach at China University of Political Science and Law. In 1989, he committed suicide by lying on the tracks at Shanhaiguan. Before his death, Hai Zi left behind a large amount of poetry manuscripts and various other writings, which were later compiled and edited by his friends Luo Yihuo and Xichuan, and published in magazines such as "Shi Yue" (October) and "Renmin Wenxue" (People's Literature). His works have also been published in various collections, including "Land," "Hai Zi and Luo Yihuo: A Collection," and "The Complete Works of Hai Zi," among others. His works have been selected multiple times for inclusion in language textbooks for primary and secondary schools, and have had a wide social impact. During his time at Peking University, Hai Zi had close interactions with Luo Yihuo, a student from the Chinese Department, and Xichuan, a student from the Spanish Department. Together, they formed a romantic poetic style that blended modern and traditional elements, emphasizing the expression of modern nostalgia, life experiences, and existential values. This poetic style had a direct and significant influence on the rise of the later Peking University poetry group. In the contemporary era, the tradition of writing poetry at Peking University has remained strong and enduring, making it a rare phenomenon among domestic universities. However, from a creative perspective, Hai Zi can be considered one of the key figures in the important category of "contemporary poetry" and among the "prominent contemporary poets."
