Features: Metallurgy, as a general foundational course and a specialized foundational course for metallurgical disciplines, encompasses a wide range of content and addresses numerous issues. At the same time, it is a rapidly developing field. It is quite challenging to meet the requirements of all disciplines with a textbook of limited length. Therefore, during the writing process, considerable effort was devoted to the arrangement of the system, the selection of content, and the depth of treatment. To accommodate the diverse needs of different disciplines, the entire book has been expanded, with some content marked with an asterisk or included in the appendix. The asterisk indicates that the content can be selected or omitted based on different disciplines, while the appendix is provided for reference or elective, allowing flexible handling based on specific conditions. Metallurgy should be taught after completing Mechanics of Materials and Physical Chemistry, and the writing system of this book is primarily based on this premise. For disciplines that do not offer Physical Chemistry, the teaching system of certain chapters should be appropriately adjusted, and the content should also be correspondingly reduced.
