Frank Baum
Frank Baum was a famous American writer and playwright in the late 19th and early 20th centuries, known as the father of American children's literature and self-proclaimed Royal Historian of Oz. The Wizard of Oz is Baum's most famous and artistically accomplished work, a long fairy tale created by Americans, and a treasure of world children's literature. It was warmly received by readers upon its publication and ranked first on the children's bestseller list for two consecutive years. It has been widely disseminated in various art forms such as light opera, film, and animation around the world. In 1939, American Hollywood adapted The Wizard of Oz into a film and presented it on the screen, winning the American Academy Award that year. In 1976, at a significant conference held by the American Children's Literature Association, experts listed The Wizard of Oz among the ten greatest American children's literary works of the past two hundred years, making it one of the most celebrated fairy tales in American children's literature in the 20th century.
