Features: Sun Yat-sen once wrote the motto for Sun Yat-sen University in Guangzhou, urging students to "learn extensively," "inquire deeply," "think profoundly," and "choose cautiously." Later, these principles became a guiding maxim for academic pursuits, encouraging a rigorous attitude and scientific approach to studies. We adhere to this same spirit and methodology, addressing the issue of overly simplistic or even incorrect explanations in many current "collections" and "appreciations" of Gaokao (China's college entrance exam) questions. Therefore, we have invited frontline teachers from Beijing and Huanggang High School in Hubei, who specialize in Gaokao questions, to compile this series, 2005~2006 Two Years of National and Provincial Gaokao. The goal is to help teachers and students deeply understand the guiding principles, angles, methods, characteristics, trends, and solving strategies of Gaokao questions set by national and provincial authorities. It provides detailed explanations of the paths and reasoning behind obtaining correct answers, serving as a guide for scientific preparation in senior high school and offering insights for candidates to confidently face the exam.
This series collects all Gaokao questions from 2005 and 2006 set by national and over a dozen provincial authorities, divided into five volumes: Chinese, Mathematics (Arts and Sciences), English, Comprehensive Humanities, and Comprehensive Science. The Comprehensive Humanities and Science volumes provide in-depth analyses and explanations from the perspectives of politics, history, geography, and physics, chemistry, biology, respectively. Each question includes three sections: "Answer," "Detailed Solution Analysis," and "Question Type Characteristics and Propensity for Future Questions."
The compilation of this series has the following notable features:
1. Broad Coverage and Detailed Explanations: For each question, the compilation clarifies the intended purpose (i.e., the knowledge and abilities being tested), the requirements of the question stem, key answer points, solving angles and methods, reasoning and elimination of incorrect options, the basis for determining the answer, and the central terms to express it. It also explains the characteristics of question selection, focus, testing angles, and their guiding role in future question-setting, providing a comprehensive and specific understanding of every aspect of the questions.
2. High Perspective and Scientific Approach: The analysis of questions is conducted from the perspective of ensuring that Gaokao promotes the selection of outstanding talents, advances the new curriculum reform in secondary education, and cultivates students' comprehensive competencies. It evaluates the reliability, validity, and discrimination of questions based on the assessment of candidates' abilities in independent, lifelong, and innovative learning, providing a clear understanding of the direction of Gaokao reform.
3. Reflection of Master Teachers' Teaching Style: The teaching methods of the master teachers from Beijing and Huanggang emphasize discovery, reflection, guidance, and summarization; the transfer and practical application of knowledge; and the ability to generalize from examples, connect concepts, and integrate learning. These characteristics are fully reflected in the compilation of this series. By reading it, readers can learn teaching and learning methods, and at the very least, gain numerous problem-solving techniques.
This series also has other distinctive features, which are not elaborated on here. Whether this series is useful or highly useful depends on whether you take the time to read it seriously.
