Features: Since 1979, China's legal system has achieved remarkable progress. I have participated in the drafting and formulation of some fundamental laws in areas such as the constitution, state institutions, civil, criminal, procedural, administrative, and economic laws. I have a relatively deep understanding of the process of formulating the constitution and some fundamental laws, as well as the main principles and major issues I have studied. Now, I have compiled some of my writings from this period, including invited lectures on the constitution and some fundamental laws, explanations of legal drafts, speeches at legislative working conferences, and remarks made during the drafting and research process, and published them in this book. I hope this will help readers understand the legal system development of New China, the drafting process, main principles, and issues of the constitution and some fundamental laws. At the same time, I would like to make two points clear: First, this is my personal understanding and interpretation of the situation during the drafting of relevant laws, for reference only. Second, practice has proven that the constitution and laws formulated in recent years are good, playing an important role in consolidating the people's democratic dictatorship, protecting citizens' rights, maintaining social and economic order, promoting reform and opening up, and ensuring the smooth progress of socialist modernization.
