Features: To adapt to the trend of highly integrated science and technology in the 21st century and to strengthen the practical ability training of biomedical talents, the School of Pharmacy at the Second Military Medical University of the People's Liberation Army has carried out major reforms in the teaching mode, curriculum system, and teaching content of chemical experiments. The experimental teaching content originally attached to the six courses of inorganic chemistry, analytical chemistry, physical chemistry, organic chemistry, pharmaceutical chemistry, and natural pharmaceutical chemistry has been integrated into a separate experimental course. The purpose is to train students' basic operations and skills more systematically and comprehensively, better cultivate their ability to apply chemical knowledge to analyze and solve problems, preliminary scientific research ability, and excellent scientific quality and innovative awareness. This book is the supporting textbook for this course and a crystallization of the achievements in the reform of chemical experimental teaching. The textbook is divided into two volumes (ⅰ) and (ⅱ). Chemical Experiments (ⅰ) covers inorganic, analytical, and physical chemistry experiments, while Chemical Experiments (ⅱ) covers organic, pharmaceutical, and natural pharmaceutical chemistry experiments. Each volume consists of three parts. The first part introduces the basic knowledge, basic operations, basic principles, and methods of experiments, providing a relatively complete introduction to the teaching requirements, learning methods, safety and environmental protection knowledge, accident prevention and handling, key points of basic operations, key points of basic techniques, general principles and methods of chemical experiments, and other very important knowledge. The second part consists of experiments, arranged in three levels: fundamental experiments—skill-based experiments—comprehensive and design-based experiments. Volume (ⅰ) selects 60 experiments, and Volume (ⅱ) selects 63 experiments, gradually improving students' practical ability from simple to complex. The main content includes: inorganic preparation and verification experiments, elemental chemistry and qualitative analysis experiments, titration analysis and electrochemical analysis experiments, determination of the properties and physicochemical constants of substances, experiments on the properties of organic functional groups, organic synthesis reactions and the preparation of organic compounds, the extraction, separation, and identification of natural active products, pharmaceutical synthesis experiments, etc. The third part is an appendix, which includes commonly used data tables for chemical experiments, the properties and physicochemical constants of reagents, the preparation methods of some solutions, and qualitative reactions of substances.
The main features of this textbook are as follows:
- It consistently integrates the cultivation of ability and quality education with the imparting of knowledge and training of skills.
- It places great emphasis on the greening of chemical experiments and the control of experimental chemical pollution.
- The experimental content is typical, novel, highly, and professionally prominent.
- It focuses on the training of experimental methodology and logical thinking, enabling students to learn to apply knowledge to various situations and master methods for solving a class of problems.
- Given the significant development and widespread application of organic compound separation and identification technologies in recent years, the training in chromatographic separation and spectroscopic analysis techniques has been strengthened.
- It incorporates research results with independent intellectual property rights into experiments, allowing students to experience the process of technological innovation.
- In comprehensive and design-based experiments, some references are listed to guide students in using chemical literature for research and learning, cultivating their preliminary scientific research ability.
- To meet the needs of students with surplus learning capacity, some English design-based experiments are written by teachers with experience in foreign scientific research and teaching.
Adhering to the principle of compiling a high-quality textbook and research tool book with a scientifically sound structure, systematic and comprehensive knowledge, and rich and novel content, we based this textbook on the experimental teaching materials used by various disciplines for many years and continuously updated, referred to and learned from the experimental teaching content of many sister institutions, fully reflecting the achievements of our institution's long-term reform in experimental teaching. The textbook was jointly compiled by core teaching staff with extensive teaching experience after repeated discussions and revisions.
This book can serve as a chemical experiment textbook or teaching reference for students in pharmaceutical, life science, and medical disciplines in higher education institutions, as well as for personnel in related fields such as chemistry, environmental science, and materials science for reading and reference.
