Features: The book's distinctive feature lies in: , the close integration of the description of artistic effects and the root-seeking analysis of these effects. This feature is closely related to my deepened understanding of textual analysis, which I achieved in order to fully answer the questions raised by the expert mentioned earlier. Second, the artistic effects are more often examined within the broader perspectives of literary history, literary trends, and other contexts outside the text. This differs from the previous book. The reason for this feature is that the object of analysis in Textual Analysis of Foreign Classic Short Stories was not a native-language text, making it more challenging to analyze within the wider contexts of literary trends and literary history. In contrast, the shift to the textual analysis of modern Chinese classic novels offers greater freedom and ease. In fact, considering and analyzing within the framework of literary history has not constrained thinking but has instead provided reference points. Third, the book emphasizes the rich intertextual foundation provided by Chinese cultural classics for the art of fiction, treating it both as a key focus and as the primary analytical approach. Fourth, the book's organizational structure follows that of Textual Analysis of Foreign Classic Short Stories—arranged in the order of publication of the works. This principle aims to treat literary works as a common heritage of humanity once they are created, and also signifies that such an arrangement resembles pearls strung on a golden thread of time, enduring the tests of time and remaining fresh and relevant over the ages.
