When that luxurious silver BMW stopped at the school gate, when that stern, old-fashioned woman who was a full head taller than him helped him out of the car, and when he revealed his face, covered in makeup and masks, to the long-lost townsfolk, the crowd surged like a tide, a thousand soldiers on the march. The stern-looking, fierce woman stood close to him, holding his left hand and raising her right, skillfully parting the surging crowd with the power of the Buddha's palm. Journalists from all over and over forty security guards formed a second inner circle. The flash of cameras and the noise of the crowd echoed together.
