Features: China is an ancient civilization with multiple ethnic groups, a long and continuous history, abundant cultural relics and historical sites, extensive textual records, and rich ethnic and folk traditions. In terms of selection, we have taken into account the historical and cultural knowledge that students have already mastered to avoid repetition, focused on cultivating qualified talents that meet the needs of China's tourism industry, and highlighted the key strengths of China's tourism sector. We have also emphasized introducing the broad cultural phenomena related to China's tourism industry. Specifically, the textbook is structured as follows:
Chapter 1 is an introduction to the general principles, systematically covering the concept of culture, the creators of Chinese historical culture—the Chinese nation, the environment in which Chinese historical culture emerged and developed, and the history of ancient China's foreign cultural exchanges.
Chapter 2 introduces the media of cultural dissemination in China, including language, writing systems, writing tools, books, and education.
Chapter 3 systematically introduces the folk customs of China's 56 ethnic groups, covering aspects such as food, clothing, housing, transportation, marriage taboos, and holiday entertainment.
Chapter 4 introduces the development of religion in China, including Buddhism, Taoism, Islam, and Christianity.
Chapters 5 and 6 systematically introduce China's cultural relics, including nationally key protected cultural relics and museum collections.
Chapters 7 and 8 respectively introduce China's culinary culture and specialty culture.
In terms of chapter objectives, we have maintained the independence and thematic focus of the content while also considering the intrinsic connections, thereby striving to create a system suitable for tourism professional teaching needs.
