A comprehensive view of The Book of Changes reveals its most significant feature—its practicality. It elaborates on all aspects of the universe, natural phenomena, and social life from a philosophical perspective, clarifying the laws of movement and change in things, filled with simple materialist dialectical thought. Especially in areas such as ethics and morality, ways of thinking, transformations of things, metabolism, military strategy, criminal justice, marriage and funeral rites, marital relationships, family education, emotions of joy and sorrow, home and travel, birth and death, as well as innovation and renewal, it offers judgments with universal patterns. This makes it a highly practical life textbook in ancient China, a model of combining abstract philosophy with real-world social reality.
