Features: My house is near a beautiful beach. Today, my parents promised to take me there for a walk. When we arrived, we happened to encounter high tide. I looked at the boundless sea and felt so excited! I excitedly rolled up my pants legs, took off my shoes, and walked into the seawater. The rolling waves crashed towards us, splashing water onto my legs—it felt so comfortable! When the tide went out, I saw many small star-shaped things left on the beach. Dad told me they were starfish, a type of marine animal with very fragile lives. If exposed to the harsh sunlight, they would die quickly. Hearing this, I quickly picked up a starfish and threw it back into the sea. Then I picked up another, and another. My mom asked in confusion, "What are you doing? Are you trying to save them? But there are thousands of them here—how many can you save?" I turned my head and said, "Starfish aren’t just inanimate objects, are they? If I save one starfish, it might give birth to many more. Doesn’t that mean I’m saving thousands upon thousands of starfish?" Hearing my words, my mom was speechless.
When we got home, Dad kept praising me. My heart was sweet—not just because of his words, but also because I was proud of having saved so many little lives.
Canding’s Review: "Do not do small good deeds for fear of being insignificant, and do not do small evil deeds for fear of being insignificant. Many people are full of grand ambitions, ready to achieve great things, yet they dismiss the importance of doing small things well. The young author uses delicate brushwork to convey a simple truth to the readers. Accumulating small kindnesses leads to great virtue, and accumulating small achievements leads to great success. The value of this article lies precisely in this idea." P4
