Patient's question:
NoDoctor's answer:
Cannot delay menstruation. Medroxyprogesterone is a progestogen, with no estrogenic activity. The progestational activity of medroxyprogesterone is 20 to 30 times that of progesterone when administered subcutaneously, and it has a long-acting effect when given intramuscularly. Used for functional bleeding, amenorrhea, and endometriosis caused by hormonal imbalance. Added to hormone replacement therapy during menopause to counteract the proliferative effect of estrogen on the endometrium. High doses are used as an adjuvant therapy for endometrial cancer.
