Patient's question:
NoDoctor's answer:
The qualitative test for urobilinogen is normal if it is negative or weakly positive. In physiological conditions, only a trace amount of urobilinogen is present in the urine, but it can be influenced by diet and urine pH. After a meal or in alkaline urine, the amount of urobilinogen in the urine may slightly increase due to reduced reabsorption of urobilinogen by the renal tubules and increased intestinal production of urobilinogen. Frequent urination, urgency, and incomplete emptying of the bladder are symptoms of a urinary tract infection.
