How to treat my daughter's delayed brain development and ADHD?

Patient's question:

5-year-old and 9-month-old girl, at five years old, she cannot express things clearly. Hyperactive, learning difficulties. How to treat her daughter's delayed brain development and ADHD?

Doctor's answer:

ADHD (Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder) is a neurodevelopmental disorder that typically emerges in childhood, characterized primarily by attention deficits, hyperactivity, and emotional guilt that are disproportionate to the individual's age level. It often begins before the age of school entry and follows a chronic course. Approximately 70% of affected children continue to exhibit symptoms into adolescence, while 30% to 50% continue to experience symptoms into adulthood. These children frequently co-occur with learning disorders, oppositional defiant disorder, emotional disorders, and adjustment disorders, which collectively exert widespread and negative impacts on their academic, occupational, social, and family lives, imposing significant stress on families and society.
For preschool-aged children (4–5 years old) with ADHD, behavioral therapy is the primary treatment approach. If behavioral therapy is ineffective, medication may be considered.
