Tone, also known as the color scheme, refers to the dominant color that plays a leading role in a painting. If a painting looks good when viewed in isolation, but lacks impact when seen as a whole, it fails. Therefore, every artist places great importance on mastering the color scheme. A varied color scheme, often referred to as a "floral tone," occurs when the environment of the main subject is complex (e.g., flowered cloth) or when the main subject itself has a rich palette of colors. In the process of organizing a painting, controlling the use of a varied color scheme requires balancing color to create order, avoiding excessive chaos or, conversely, seeking uniformity at the expense of one's own visual perception, resulting in overly monotonous scenes that lose the authenticity of a varied color scheme. When organizing a varied color scheme, attention should be paid to the following five key points:
1. Combine intuitive observation with rational analysis;
2. Establish a sense of the main subject and the overall composition, prioritizing the main subject over the background, and the whole over the details;
3. Pay attention to the contrast between large and small color blocks during the brushwork process;
4. Note the relationship of simplicity and complexity between the main subject and the floral background;
5. Pay attention to the contrast between the thickness and thinness of the colors in the painting.
