Features: This series of books was planned and solicited by Jiangsu Ancient Books Publishing House about two years ago. The volume "Annotations and Corrections" was originally by another author. By the time the deadline arrived, due to certain circumstances, the commitment could not be fulfilled. However, the sub-topics of the series had already been printed, and the publisher urgently assigned the task of completing it within three months. Although one of the author's special topics is annotations and corrections, perception often outweighs organization. Moreover, there are no existing works by previous authors to refer to for annotations and corrections. In fact, the term "annotations and corrections" is merely a term used in the book world, not an academic concept, with both its connotation and denotation being rather vague. Many related terms need clear definitions before proceeding. To accomplish this task in a short period, for someone as limited as I am, the difficulty is self-evident. Having accepted the challenge, I worked tirelessly and submitted the manuscript after a few delays. There will undoubtedly be errors and omissions in this immature work, and I sincerely hope for the guidance of the experts. The second part of my work on annotators and correctors was rushed, and many references were directly quoted from Mr. Zheng Weizhang's great work "Comprehensive Examination of Literary Scholars" and other books. For this, I extend my heartfelt gratitude here! For other parts of the book, some citations have not been verified against the original texts, which is specially noted here. Additionally, the examples of annotations and corrections are limited to what the author knows and can find in available reference books, not necessarily the extant annotations and corrections by these annotators and correctors. Readers are kindly advised to keep this in mind. This book introduces the concept and origin of annotations and corrections, the methods of book correction, the types of annotations and corrections, the falsification of annotations and corrections and its methods, as well as famous annotators and correctors like Qian Qianyi, Mao Jin, Fu Shan, Shen Dacheng, and their annotations and corrections.
