Patient's question:
Female, 28 years old, a mom, has been taking care of her child since birth. I don't have much experience with childcare. Please ask: What does normal baby poop look like for a one-month-old?Doctor's answer:
Breastfed babies will have a paste-like or curd-like stool, with a color that is slightly greenish yellow. Their stool will be looser than that of formula-fed babies or may have a soft, greasy consistency, without a sour smell or bubbles. It will also never have a strong odor. Two to three bowel movements per day are normal. If the baby is in good spirits, not spitting up, and gaining weight normally, then everything is fine. However, if the stool is watery, intervention may be needed.
