Can you continue if you have a fever halfway through weaning?

Patient's question:

The baby is currently running a fever and has diarrhea. We have halfway completed the transition to the second stage formula. Should we completely stop the second stage or continue adding it at the previous sick ratio?

Doctor's answer:

According to your situation, it is recommended to maintain the current status and wait until the baby recovers before switching. The transition should be done when the baby is completely healthy. The weaning process needs to be gradual and may take 1-2 weeks. I will introduce some weaning methods, which may help your baby transition more quickly!
Alternate-day weaning: For example, if your baby drinks milk 5 times a day, on days 1-3, replace one of the 5 feedings with the new formula; on days 4-6, replace two feedings with the new formula; on days 7-8, replace three feedings with the new formula. Continue this pattern until you fully switch to the new formula.
Mixed weaning: Due to the differences in ingredients among different formulas, we recommend using the alternate-day weaning method.
