Menstrual period abdominal pain

Patient's question:

About a year after giving birth, lower abdominal pain occurs every time after menstruation. Sometimes it's on one side, and sometimes it alternates between the two sides. The pain usually lasts for about a week and then disappears on its own.

Doctor's answer:

The lower abdomen has been heavy and aching, with a dull pain. From a TCM perspective, this is often attributed to Qi deficiency, with damp-heat being a common cause. Therefore, the focus should be on regulating Qi and eliminating damp-heat. You can consult an experienced TCM practitioner for a differential diagnosis and medication. It won’t cost much, and it can still be effectively treated.
