Features: The uniqueness of this book lies in its study of 20th-century Russian literature from the perspective of the development and evolution of literary trends. It deliberately avoids the conventional categorizations such as "mainstream and non-mainstream," "domestic and foreign," "aboveground and underground," "official and dissent," "local and return," and instead treats 20th-century Russian literature as a whole, emphasizing the revelation of its historical traditions, humanistic environment, and national characteristics. Within this framework, it focuses on analyzing traditional realism, new realism, symbolism, romanticism, Akmeism, pure art theory, as well as numerous literary trends and schools such as народность (populism), the Thaw literature, rural literature, wartime literature, Silver Age literature, and alternative literature. The book strives to clarify the dialectical relationship between the "unified process" and "two-polar structure," "wholeness" and "heterogeneity" of literature. For all literary trends and schools, it respects historical facts, objectively provides literary information, and analyzes and evaluates them impartially. Any academic viewpoint proposed is supported by thorough theoretical analysis and literary evidence. The author avoids empty talk and pretense, using examples to illustrate concepts while relying on theory to interpret works—a conscious pursuit. In analyzing each literary phenomenon, the book integrates concepts, knowledge systems, and methodological approaches. It embraces a wide range of literary forms within literary trends, including novels, poetry, drama, film and television literature, literary adaptations, literary theory, and critical methods, thereby enriching the book's documentary value. The book endeavors to explore the diversity of aesthetic techniques in 20th-century Russian literature, including traditional and modern methods such as realism, lyricism, symbolism, metaphor, illusion, irony, narration, collage, deconstruction, and mythological archetypes. These techniques are theoretically defined and analyzed in the context of the creative styles of the studied writers. In summary, the book presents the fundamental theories, evolutionary trajectories, and contemporary forms of various literary trends in 20th-century Russian literature.
