Can adenomyosis cause pregnancy?

Patient's question:

No

Doctor's answer:

Hello! Adenomyosis is a condition where the endometrium grows into the uterine muscle layer, classified as an intrinsic form of endometriosis. The normal endometrium only grows on the surface of the uterine cavity. If it grows beyond this range downward into the muscle layer, it becomes pathological, known as adenomyosis. Treatment should be determined based on the patient's symptoms and age. If symptoms can be relieved with symptomatic treatment such as indomethacin, naproxen, or ibuprofen, then for patients with fertility requirements, medication or minimally invasive surgery may be considered to facilitate rapid conception. Alternatively, conservative treatment can be adopted if the patient is nearing menopause. If the patient experiences severe menstrual cramps for a long time, a total hysterectomy may be necessary. A light diet is recommended, avoiding spicy and irritating foods. During menstruation, hygiene should be maintained, and physical activity or heavy labor should be avoided.
