What are the symptoms of cerebral palsy? What are there?

Patient's question:

My child is 4 years and 2 months old. They don't usually use their left hand, and they don't have enough strength in their left foot when climbing stairs. When walking, they seem to have a drunk-like feeling, and when running, they only swing their right hand. Their left hand is always clenched in their abdomen and doesn't swing. Is this a result of cerebral palsy?

Doctor's answer:

Symptoms of Cerebral Palsy: Secondary changes such as joint contractures and spinal deformities also gradually develop. It may be related to epilepsy, intellectual disability, sensory disorders, behavioral disorders, etc. The manifestations of cerebral palsy can be divided into several types. 1. Dyskinetic type, primarily characterized by stiffness in the limbs. 2. Spastic type, involving involuntary movements of the limbs and head, as well as involuntary movements during purposeful movements, such as the appearance of "brown eyebrows" on the face, difficulty speaking and swallowing, and frequent drooling. 3. Ataxic type, characterized by muscle weakness in the limbs, inability to maintain balance, unsteady gait, and incomplete fine motor skills such as finger-to-nose movements. Simple ataxia is less common. Ataxia can also be associated with movements of the hands and feet.
