Features: Batel is my dear friend and confidant whom I have known for over a decade. Our relationship has evolved from mutual understanding to acquaintance, and then from acquaintance to deep friendship. Though our interactions have not been frequent, we have always been sincere and devoted to each other. Despite appearing ordinary, our bond is anything but mundane. Anyone who knows, meets, or interacts with him can sense his diligence, erudition, and kindness. This is also why we have become close friends and kindred spirits.
Batel is a renowned poet and writer in the region. Since 1985, eight of his books have been published in collections. After stepping down from his administrative leadership position in 2002, he revised and expanded his four-volume Selected Works, which were published in 2003. Among these volumes, the Reflections section is particularly outstanding, while the Poetry and Essays sections also contain many brilliant pieces. What surprised me was that just over a year later, last year, Batel placed three thick manuscripts on my desk—this is the newly published and exquisite Three Flavors of Ink Series.
I remember flipping through them and being instantly impressed, feeling both excited and inspired. I immediately recognized that this would undoubtedly be a bestseller, even if it were a first printing. I expressed my willingness to strongly recommend it to publishers far away.
