This novel is adapted from the same-titled novel Uncle by the Big Trees written by American author Jean Webster in 1912. It is a beloved classic that has been best-selling for a long time and is a must-read for girls. In 1990, it was even adapted into a series of animated TV shows in Japan. This book is the film tie-in novel for the South Korean film Uncle by the Big Trees, which stars the highly popular Korean actors Ha Ji-won and Yum Jung-ah.
The South Korean novel Uncle by the Big Trees primarily unfolds around the anticipation and fantasy surrounding the mysterious "Uncle by the Big Trees." The love story between E and Jun-ho is constructed from the tragic love story found in an E-mail that E accidentally discovers. This is the biggest difference from the original and also the most charming aspect of the South Korean novel Uncle by the Big Trees.
