The Federal Science Policy Office of Belgium provided research funding for this project within the framework of the "Horizontal Action: Action: Belgian Public Institutions and Decision-Making in a Globalized Society" program. For this, we are deeply grateful to the project coordinators and staff members Bogdan Vandoninck, Lieve Van Daele, AZiz Naji, Margarida Freire, and Vrielinck. The scholars participating in this research project primarily came from two academic institutions: the Department of Political Science at the Free University of Brussels (Bruno Coppieters, Michel Heis, and Tamara Kuznetz) and the European Policy Research Center based in Brussels (Michael Emerson, Gagana Nuchecheva, Natalie Toussaint, and Marius Val). The English edition of this book was published by Gant Academic Press, and the European Journal of Ethnic and Migration Studies was responsible for the publication of the English electronic edition. Additionally, the book has been published in Dutch, Russian, and Chinese. The three-year project jointly carried out by Renmin University of China, Durham University (UK), and the Free University of Brussels, titled "Asian Studies in Europe and China," significantly contributed to the publication of the Chinese edition of this book. This project was funded by the European Union's "AsiaLink" program. The aim of the project was to deepen contemporary Asian studies in Europe and China.
