How should a 16-month-old child with cerebral palsy be handled?

Patient's question:

The brain waves have slow waves and sharp waves. Beta amino acids are a bit high. The doctor diagnosed it as encephalitis. Currently, acupuncture, rehabilitation exercises, brain ultrasound, and bioelectric tests are being performed, but none of them have shown effective results. What is the disease? What further tests should be done?

Doctor's answer:

16 months old. Currently unable to sit, walk, or speak. The child has cerebral palsy. Cerebral palsy often develops before birth or during infancy. The causes include: birth injuries, neonatal jaundice, brain hypoxia; premature birth, etc. The main symptoms are increased muscle tone, difficulty with abduction. In severe cases, muscle rigidity, contractions, and joint flexion can be observed. In mild cases, poor fine motor skills in the hands and inability to place the heels on the ground when walking are seen. These patients often have language development and dysarthria, as well as strabismus. About one-third of patients have varying degrees of seizures and intellectual disabilities. Cerebral palsy can cause delayed motor development.
