Features: The new English Curriculum Standards formulated by the Ministry of Education of China describe the following listening objectives for second-year high school students: "1. Be able to identify important information in a passage and make simple inferences; 2. Be able to take notes based on what is heard; 3. Be able to connect relevant facts and information using clues in the speech; 4. Be able to understand descriptions of people and things, the development of plots, and outcomes in stories." To this end, this book is organized into four chapters, each corresponding to one of the above objectives, progressing from simple to complex and from easy to difficult. It adopts an interactive teaching format between teachers and students, both explaining the necessary methods and skills to develop these abilities in theory and providing appropriate exercises and practices that second-year high school students can complete. Practice without advanced theoretical guidance is often time-consuming and aimless; however, if advanced theories are merely kept on the shelf without practical application, they cannot be truly mastered. This book is also accompanied by listening tapes with standard pronunciation and fluent delivery, all read by foreign teachers. We believe this will greatly benefit students in improving their English communicative skills, completely overcoming "deaf-mute English," and thereby enhancing their test-taking abilities. Due to our limited expertise and the haste in writing this book, there may be imperfections. We sincerely welcome any constructive feedback from readers.
