Patient's question:
NoDoctor's answer:
Candidal vulvovaginitis can be treated by rinsing the external genitalia with baking soda water, using nystatin vaginal suppositories, and taking oral itraconazole and ketoconazole. During treatment, sexual intercourse is prohibited, and underwear should be changed, washed daily, and boiled for disinfection. After one course of treatment, a fungal test should be negative. Subsequent fungal tests should also be negative after each menstrual cycle. Continuous consolidation treatment for three more courses is required to be considered cured. It is best for the male partner to be treated concurrently as well, taking nystatin tablets for one week. Shoes and socks should be washed separately from underwear. Otherwise, it is easy to relapse. The reasons for relapse are generally incomplete treatment and reinfection from the sexual partner.
