Features: "Practical Sports Medicine" is a large-scale reference book edited by the Institute of Sports Medicine at Peking University Health Science University (now the Institute of Sports Medicine at Peking University). Since 1965, it has been published in three editions. The content is divided into four main parts: sports health, sports nutrition, sports trauma, and medical sports (sports therapy). The material is both in-depth and accessible, emphasizing both fundamental theory and practical application. As a result, it is highly favored by sports medicine professionals, doctors, graduate students, and coaches. Sports medicine is an interdisciplinary field that combines sports and medicine. It primarily studies medical issues related to exercise and lack of exercise, aiming to improve medical treatment, prevention, rehabilitation, and training levels, enhance health, and improve athletic performance. The goal is to better serve health through sports, and for professional athletes, there is an even more important task of improving athletic performance to represent their country. With the development of the Olympic Movement, the training and competition of athletes have become increasingly intense, leading to a growing number of medical issues. Undoubtedly, the content of sports medicine also needs continuous updates and additions. The third edition of "Practical Sports Medicine" was published in 1995, with writing starting in 1993, nearly a decade later, making a new edition urgently needed. The guiding principles for this revision are: 1. Emphasizing the theoretical foundation of sports medicine but placing greater importance on the basic knowledge relevant to clinical practice. The content will undergo significant additions and deletions. 2. Focusing on new technologies that are effective in practice and have development potential. 3. Adapting to the needs of the Olympics. 4. Making it easier for readers to access information. Based on these principles, this book separates Cardiology in Sports as a standalone section. It also adds research progress on the basics related to new technologies in sports trauma, such as engineered cartilage, artificial menisci, and cytokine expression in osteoarthritis; as well as expanded content on imaging diagnosis techniques for trauma, arthroscopic surgery techniques, and corresponding rehabilitation measures. The chapters on sports nutrition and sports therapy have also been significantly revised from an applied perspective. This is a large-scale reference book written by multiple experts, with over 3 million words, each author bringing their unique style to the narrative and text expression. To facilitate reading, efforts have been made to maintain consistency throughout the book.
