What are the manifestations of infantile mental retardation

Patient's question:

My child is over two years old now. They only know how to say simple words like "daddy" and "mommy." Their attention is not focused, and when they want something, they just point instead of speaking. They also don't listen to adults. We're very worried, fearing they might have some form of developmental delay. What are the symptoms of developmental delay in children?

Doctor's answer:

The manifestations of intellectual disability include: At 1 month old, the eyes cannot follow a red ball or moving people, and there is no response to sounds. At 3 months old, the eyes still cannot follow people, the child cannot laugh out loud, does not smile actively when seeing people. At 4 months old, the child cannot recognize family members. At 6 months old, the child does not respond to their name. At 7 months old, the child cannot recognize strangers, does not unconsciously utter "da-da.ma-ma," and the hands cannot actively grasp objects. At 9 months old, the child cannot imitate sounds, cannot express greetings or farewells, and cannot pinch small pills with both hands. At 10 months old, the child does not make gestures or eye contact for common objects and people. At 1 year old, the child does not cooperate during dressing, and does not intentionally call parents or others.
