Features: In the mid-20th century, the scientific thought of systems entered China. In the 1960s, scholars in the philosophy field had already begun researching its philosophical issues. By the 1980s, a philosophical (wave) of studying the science of systems had formed. Classic works related to this field were gradually translated and introduced from abroad. That was when I first encountered these issues. First, I studied the relevant sciences; then, I read the classic works of the philosophy of systems; later, I revisited the history of Western and Eastern philosophy, including postmodern philosophy in the West. Combining these three aspects of research, I increasingly felt the richness of their theoretical connotations, the tight connections between them, and their significant importance. This book provides a comprehensive, complete, and historical discussion of the philosophy of systems. The entire book is divided into three parts: the scientific background and philosophical tradition of the philosophy of systems, the world system philosophy and its main representatives, and the status and role of the philosophy of systems in world philosophy. Author Huang Xiaohan is currently a professor in the Department of Philosophy at the School of Marxism, Peking University. He has long been engaged in research on the principles of Marxist philosophy and philosophical issues in science. He has written "Interpretation of the 'Book of Nature'—Scientific Hermeneutics" and numerous papers, and has participated in or led several national, Ministry of Education, and Peking University research projects.
