How to treat pediatric enuresis?

Patient's question:

My son is almost 6 years old this year. He often wets the bed at night, about twice a week. I call him to go to the toilet at night, but he often doesn't hear me. He sleeps very soundly, and I am very troubled.

Doctor's answer:

Clinical manifestations of enuresis: Mild cases may experience 1-3 episodes of enuresis per week. Severe cases may have one or even several episodes of enuresis each night. It is recommended that you take your child to the hospital for examination. Relevant tests should be conducted, including: urinalysis, ultrasound of the urinary system, spinal X-ray, and some children may need an electroencephalogram. During the night, it is advisable to develop a habit of waking up at regular intervals to urinate. Try not to drink any fluids close to bedtime. Behavioral training can be performed, including relaxation, habit formation, and attention diversion, to improve the symptoms of enuresis.
