Patient's question:
NoDoctor's answer:
This is because the fetus's head is poorly flexed, and the anterior part of the head compresses the cervix, affecting its retraction, which leads to edema of the anterior lip of the cervix. This is generally caused by fetal compression. Starting in the late stages of pregnancy, the extracellular matrix of the cervical tissue absorbs a large amount of water, and combined with the hyperplasia and hypertrophy of blood vessels in the cervical tissue, the cervical tissue becomes abnormally soft. If the soft cervical tissue is compressed, it is prone to edema. Obstruction of venous and lymphatic drainage of the cervix leads to vasospasm and tissue hypoxia.
