Patient's question:
NoDoctor's answer:
Endometriosis is a benign condition caused by the invasion of the endometrium into the uterine muscle layer, accompanied by diffuse hyperplasia of the uterine muscle. Uterine fibroids, also known as leiomyomas, generally exist as solitary lesions in a specific part of the uterus. Both conditions can usually be managed with medication. If endometriosis is combined with pelvic endometrial heterotopia, surgical treatment is required. Similarly, uterine fibroids that grow significantly also need surgical treatment.
