Features: This anthology includes first prize papers from the 2006 annual conference call for papers of the China Library Society. A harmonious society is necessarily one where politics, economy, and culture develop in coordination. Libraries are important cultural facilities and social organizations that promote excellent national culture and build new culture. Libraries are also crucial institutions for collecting, integrating, and disseminating information and intelligence, playing an increasingly significant role in economic development. Libraries are even a place for lifelong education of the public, possessing unique functions and roles in enhancing the cultural literacy of the entire nation and promoting the comprehensive development of individuals. In the process of building a harmonious society, libraries are playing an increasingly important role. For this reason, the theme of the 2006 annual conference of the China Library Society was determined as "Library Development and the Construction of a Harmonious Society." Since the call for papers was issued in December 2005, within a short span of two months, a total of 1,195 papers were submitted. The 71 papers included in this anthology were selected through a rigorous evaluation process by the expert review committee, including preliminary, secondary, and final reviews. This book collects the first prize papers from the 2006 annual conference call for papers of the China Library Society, comprising a total of 71 papers.
