Generally, surgical fistula creation or abscess drainage is required for treatment. Traditional treatment involving fistula creation involves significant bleeding and trauma, necessitating hospitalization. After this surgery, local inflammatory scars are prone to form, and recurrence is also common. Currently, the following methods are more commonly used:Needle drainage with tube fistula creation – This method has minimal trauma, less bleeding, and can still be performed if there is superficial infection on the abscess surface. It preserves the physiological function of the greater vestibular glands and maintains the normal shape of the external genitalia.
After 14 days of postoperative swelling, the soft tube is removed. The fistula appears free of hard nodules or scars.
After treatment, the local area of the external genitalia should be kept clean and hygienic. Avoid wearing synthetic underwear, change underwear frequently, and prevent contamination from vaginal secretions, urine, and feces.
