Patient's question:
I just got my driver's license two days ago. So I decided to show off and drive to work myself. On the way, I didn't see the lady cycling next to me, and she didn't see me either. As a result, I hit her. I took her to the hospital for a check-up, and the doctor said she had a fracture of the radial head on the right side. How should a fracture of the radial head on the right side be treated?Doctor's answer:
The humeral head participates in the formation of the ankle joint at the elbow joint and can perform rotational functions. Therefore, a fracture of the humeral head is an intra-articular fracture. If there is no significant displacement, a cast can be applied externally for 4 to 6 weeks. After the cast is removed, functional exercises are intensified. If there is significant displacement, open reduction and internal fixation should be performed to restore anatomical relationships, allowing the elbow joint to move early and enabling good recovery of elbow flexion and forearm rotation functions. Severe bone fractures can be removed.
