What should adults do if they still wet the bed?

Patient's question:

I want to ask you, what should I do if an adult still wets the bed? My sister is already nineteen this year. Last time when the university was on vacation and she came home, she acted cute and wanted to sleep with her older sister (me). When I woke up in the morning and touched the bed, it was wet, which startled me. After asking my sister, I found out that she had wet the bed, and this wasn't the first time.

Doctor's answer:

This age still has bedwetting, which is called enuresis. The most common cause of enuresis is spina bifida and spinal meningocele, which affect the function of the spinal cord, leading to the occurrence of neurogenic bladder, where the bladder contracts and loses neural control, resulting in enuresis. This first requires a renal ultrasound and post-void residual urine test. If this condition exists, a lumbar magnetic resonance imaging must be performed, and surgery is required after diagnosis.
