Patient's question:
NoDoctor's answer:
When the amount of amniotic fluid exceeds a certain value, such as 2000 milliliters, it is medically referred to as polyhydramnios. At this point, we should understand whether the mother has any of the various causes of polyhydramnios. The most common cause is that the mother has gestational diabetes. The second consideration is whether there are any developmental abnormalities or malformations in the fetus's important organs, such as neural tube defects, primarily anencephaly and meningocele, which are among the most common malformations causing polyhydramnios. Additionally, there is upper gastrointestinal atresia; some chromosomal abnormalities can also lead to polyhydramnios.
