Patient's question:
I had pretty good eyesight a few years ago. But recently, due to excessive eye use and long-term fatigue, I developed (myopia). I don't know if moving the eyeballs back and forth can cure (myopia).Doctor's answer:
Useless. Eye rotation depends on the external muscles of the eye. Glasses adjust focus through the ciliary muscles inside the lens. In normal vision, when looking at distant objects (such as stars, where light is almost parallel), the ciliary muscles are completely relaxed. The lens returns to its original state. The focus falls exactly on the retina (very far). When a true myopic eye looks at distant objects, the ciliary muscles relax. The lens returns to its original state. However, because the axis of true myopia is too long, the focus falls in front of the retina. Therefore, alternating between seeing near and far objects (which can exercise the ciliary muscles) can treat pseudomyopia. It can also help restore fatigue in hyperopia. But it is not true myopia.
