Fundamentals of Mechanical Engineering Control

Author: Liu Hongyi

Publish Date: 2006-07-01
Features: This book adopts a closely integrated approach of theory and practice. The specific methodology is as follows: First, representative examples of automatic control systems are presented, and key issues to be addressed in designing automatic control systems are proposed to ensure stable, fast, and precise system operation. Then, the means to solve these key issues are introduced, which involves learning relevant automatic control theories. Finally, these theories are applied to analyze typical systems, allowing readers to immediately see the practical utility of the learned theories while also helping them gain a deeper understanding of the theories. Additionally, to further reinforce the learned content, exercises are provided at the end of each chapter, and reference answers to selected exercises are given at the end of the book. This book can be used as a professional textbook for senior undergraduate students. It is written in accordance with the training objectives of the "Mechanical Engineering and Automation" program, covering the fundamental principles of control theory and its applications in mechanical engineering automatic control systems. The book consists of 11 chapters, with Chapters 1–8 dedicated to classical control theory, primarily introducing the basic concepts of automatic control, the establishment of mathematical models of control systems in the time and frequency domains, and the analysis of stability and steady-state errors in single-input single-output, linear, time-invariant systems. It also elaborates on the time-domain analysis, frequency-domain analysis, root locus method, and design and compensation methods for linear control systems, each chapter featuring engineering case studies. Chapter 9 covers discrete control systems, Chapter 10 introduces the fundamentals of modern control theory, and Chapter 11 presents the fundamentals of intelligent control theory. This book can serve as a textbook for students in mechanical engineering and automation, as well as for related technical personnel in fields such as metallurgy, chemical engineering, and material forming and control.
