Features: Wang Qijun's freehand line drawings well inherit the tradition. He pays special attention to the relationship between the density and spacing of lines, fully utilizing the characteristics of brush strokes that can capture the subtle details and express broad themes. He seeks the dynamic and flexible possibilities between lines, as well as the joy of mutual inspiration among them. This fully reflects Wang Qijun's strong aesthetic interest and sensitive creative awareness, having broken through the barrier between architecture and art, and surpassed the rational constraints of artistic creation, gaining the freedom of imagination. The cultural atmosphere revealed in Wang Qijun's freehand architectural drawings subtly makes us feel that the painter is in harmony with nature. The traditional Chinese cultural spirit of "Heaven and earth share life with me, and all things are equal to me" serves as the foundation for the painter's imaginative and insightful creations. He loves to capture the vitality of vernacular architecture in stillness; he highly admires the tranquility of vernacular architecture, believing that the rhythm of Chinese vernacular architecture leans toward subtlety, calmness, depth, continuity, and fluidity, rarely featuring dramatic fluctuations. The smooth lines conceal traditional philosophy. The selected works in this book, both by the author and Xie Yan, were mostly created between 1988 and 2001 during his studies at Chongqing University of Architecture and Engineering and his work at the China Architecture and Building Press in Beijing. The student works selected in this book are primarily classroom and after-class assignments from the "Architectural Expression" course taught by the author, and do not represent the overall level of students from the School of Architecture at the Central Academy of Fine Arts.
