Features: Due to the achievements in the treatment of many blinding diseases, especially surgery, clinical ophthalmologists have not paid enough attention to refractory blinding eye diseases such as degeneration and hereditary ones. The purpose of writing this book is to help clinical ophthalmologists deepen their understanding of retinitis pigmentosa, a refractory eye disease, and to focus on its treatment in clinical practice or refer patients to hospitals with experience in treating the disease, rather than leaving patients in a state of hopelessness, helplessness, and no place to seek medical care with a simple statement like "there is no treatment for retinitis pigmentosa at the moment." Since the treatment of retinal degeneration involves a gradual process from "untreatable" to "curable," the duration of effective visual function in patients can be extended during this process, which is very important for both doctors and patients. Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) has many unique advantages in treating retinitis pigmentosa, and there are some publications on the treatment of retinitis pigmentosa in TCM. Although the theoretical foundations of TCM and Western medicine are different, it is believed that future research findings and treatment efficacy will ultimately converge. This book does not provide a detailed description of TCM.
