Features: Since Mr. He Luting composed the Chinese-flavored "Pastoral Serenade" in 1934, it has become a fundamental approach in Chinese piano music composition for a considerable period afterward—transforming folk songs or famous melodies through variation, development, and pianistic treatment. Many outstanding works have emerged during this time, still frequently performed on stages today. In the two years since its establishment, the Central Conservatory of Music Press has published several works in this style, gaining a certain influence in society. Since the 1980s, with the gradual opening of Chinese society, musical expression has become more diverse, and creative styles have become more individualistic, reflecting in the piano music of the past two decades. In recent years, a wide variety of piano sheet music has been published in China, but few reflect the achievements of contemporary piano music composition. This book, compiled by Professor Zou Xiangping of Sichuan Conservatory of Music, gathers representative piano works by 13 renowned Chinese composers created in recent years, titled "Selected Contemporary Piano Works of China (After 1980)," aiming to address the gap in piano music publishing in China. The publication of this collection is expected to promote the creation, performance, and research of Chinese piano compositions.
