Features: The famous animated series "Tom and Jerry" was created by producer Fred Quimby, director William Hanna, and Joseph Barbera in 1939. After the highly successful short film "Tom Gets Boots," Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer produced over 100 "Tom and Jerry" cartoons in the following 25 years. This animated series is entirely characterized by slapstick comedy, with very lively plots. In 1942, "Tom and Jerry" and all of Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer's other works were compiled into the comic magazine "Our Gang" by Dell/Western Publishing. Starting from the 40th issue, Tom and Jerry became the cover image of the magazine. In 1948, after "Tom and Jerry" reached its peak of popularity in the 193rd issue of "Our Gang," it completely replaced "Our Gang" starting from the 194th issue.
Initially, Jerry and the diaper-wearing gray mouse Tuffy lived together in the same mouse hole in a house, seemingly under the surveillance of Tom, who made every effort to drive away these annoying lodgers. The stories of these clever mice and the foolish cat are comparable to the partnership of Mickey Mouse and Donald Duck. Unlike the cruelty of the animal world where the strong prey on the weak, only the daily trivialities and conflicts between the two neighbors are depicted, such as the little mouse stealing Tom's cheese or Tom setting a mousetrap at Jerry's doorstep. In between, countless pranks and humorous segments are interwoven, bringing back a sense of innocence long forgotten. The relationship between the cat and the mouse often changes instantly, turning from enemies to friends or remaining rivals. When they are enemies, they exhaust their brains and refuse to yield to each other; when they are friends, they are as close as brothers, holding no grudges against each other.
