After a burn, immediately immerse the burned area in clean cold water. The earlier the burned area is immersed in cold water, the better the effect. This way, timely heat dissipation can reduce pain or the severity of the burn. For minor burns (meaning first-degree burns where the skin is red but without blisters), it is generally possible to treat them at home. Rinse and clean the wound with lukewarm water (or dilute saltwater). For wounds on the arms, legs, or torso, apply purple root oil or burn ointment and cover with gauze.
