Except for minor revisions, such as correcting errors, eliminating redundancy, or demonstrating connections, these reprinted articles are almost identical to their original publication. I made this choice because it well preserves the integrity and characteristics of each paper, and because I believe that even in their original form, they together form a unified line of thought. The introductions to the two main parts of the book, Chapters 1 and 8, respectively summarize the perspectives of each part and help further unify the entire text. Moreover, the notes between these two chapters provide extensive contextual references for the remaining chapters and position them within the scope of current literature. In addition to Chapters 1 and 8, the other two chapters, Chapters 2 and 14, have never been published before.
